I am struggling to understand disk usage accounting and showback figures.
It seems that Sunstone showback and accounting do not account for disk space used by VMs in status POWEROFF. However, the disc space of the image is well used, so logically the customer should be charged for this space. As should the customer be charged for the space used in datastore by his images even if not tied to any VM.
Versions of the related components and OS (frontend, hypervisors, VMs):
Sunstone 5.0.3 , KVM default updated version on Ubuntu 16.04
Steps to reproduce:
Create VM
start it
stop it
calculate accounting using oneacct
see that no record is there when VM is poweroff
check in sunstone Showback: no money charged for the poweroff VM
Current results:
in sunstone Showback: no money charged for the poweroff VM
Expected results:
in sunstone Showback: some money charged for the poweroff VM to account for the GB used by its disk image in datastore
